Not Lu here: So, the last update on Justan’s progress was that book three is finished and book two is 85% complete. That was a long time ago. And guess what? He’s still in the same spot… but not. You see, once he got near the end, he passed the book off to his developmental editor, who, of course, had suggestions on pacing and one character being a bit out of character. Justan, being the whiny bitch that he is, was so devastated he’s been curled up in the fetal position pretty much since. Ok, that was a lie. He’s actually gone back to the beginning of book two and is editing in an effort to clean up his mess. He’s moving chapters around, tightening the action, and smacking his characters back into character. He’s even been giving the chapters back to the editor as he gets them done. So, the ne’er-do-well little bastard is making progress, but not fast enough for me.
What’s a guy to do? Well, I’ve been reading a lot of other authors, that’s what! I just finished several historical fiction series set in Greece and Turkey while traveling there. Needless to say, I then needed something lighter.
Justan suggested The Trouble With Prophecies by Jake Joy. The title made me laugh, and the author didn’t disappoint. The main character, a wizard named Derrick, is a good mix of irreverence, cynicism, and compassion. The story covers a lot of fantasy tropes and does a good job having fun with them. So, if you’re looking for a bit of satire, I highly recommend The Trouble With Prophecies. You can get it on Amazon here: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CV4L4311/tag=justhenndmptw5-20
